EVENT COMING UP ON 25TH JANUARY 2024

Ivor has shared the following notice about a personal appearance in January of 2024 to promote the new edition of the book at the Museum of Ventura in Ventura, California. Here is the notice of his appearance in January of 2024.

The Museum of Ventura County & Zoom 100 E Main Street
Ventura, 93001

Three hundred years after the American Revolution Britain finally got revenge. Sixty years ago this year, four funny-looking lads with mop-top haircuts from Liverpool, England—named John, Paul, George, and Ringo, invaded the USA—and conquered the nation! Amidst oceans of tears and ear-blasting screams—but surprisingly no blood—they re-wrote Rock and Roll History.

London-born, Ventura County author and journalist Ivor Davis had a front-row, eyewitness seat as this amazing Revolution unfolded in all its gory detail.

He travelled with them, ate with them, drank with them, and revealed the behind-the-scenes story of what unfolded from sea to shining sea in his 60th anniversary “Beatles and Me on Tour” book. It contains never-before-told tales of the conquering Beatles who are still worshipped in the USA—and even Ventura County!

The Beatles and their families are beloved millionaires, and astonishingly they are still turning out hit records!

Davis will be at the Museum of Ventura County January 25, 2024 from 6:30 to 7:30pm to reveal the blood, sweat, tears, screams and inside stories of how it happened. And answer all the questions about the Fab Four—that you were afraid to ask!

“Davis serves up the stories behind the stories as only an insider can,” said the prestigious Publisher’s Weekly.

The Beatles Now and Then

The Beatles Now and Then

The latest single Now and Then from the world’s Number 1 All Time Band has cemented that claim for all time. Whilst the song is wistfully beautiful, it is also true Beatles engineering. Go using AI to engineer a reunion that the world has longed to see since 1970, it has brought about that very thing, and a resounding success it is too.

Using the latest technology coupled with AI, this has put our beloved Mop Tops right at the forefront of the modern recorded industry, and it is most welcome.  The fact that modern pressed and computerised as it is, is not making the headway it should be, we see the present younger generations seeking out something that was Then, but is Now. To quote a famous line, And You Know That Can’t Be Bad. I do however think that this will not be the last offering from The Beatles. There are complete songs still in cans and tapes that are waiting to be discovered. All in the fitness of time

I thought however that it would be good to share something that has just recently come into my possession, as i believe that it is relevant and important to Now and Then, and adds a lot of resonance to the whole proceedings.

I also still have demo items with John and George that could be worked on including a Dick James 45am acetate recording of the whole group performing Bad To Me.

The Lost Apple Records

The Lost Apple Singles

As explained in previous feeds, APPLE records through the active minds of those who were part of the setup had many plans and ideas, but alas in this world many of them failed to reach fruition for one reason or another.

Some were just vetos at a late stage, or a United no to proceed. The shame is that many of them are lost forever, but also we must be grateful that some have indeed survived in various forms, and I am pleased to show some here from my archives.

The first three are from a set titled Apple Lost Singles. These were for the U.K. market, and artists such as Badfinger, James Taylor, Mary Hopkin, Mortimer, and Twinkle Ripley, make a rare appearance along with Roger Daltrey, Leo Sayer, Marc Bolan, all of whom recorded at the Savile Row Studios.

Coming very soon: Rivals Of The Beatles 2!!

Rivals Of The Beatles

In early 2021 Martin Orkin self-published his first book, Rivals Of The Beatles in a limited numbered first edition of 500 copies. Martin’s book told the fascinating detailed stories of 20 of the groups who competed with The Beatles during that magical 1960s era. But he also showed the influence that The Beatles had on each of them: groups like The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Dave Clark Five and The Monkees. Rivals Of The Beatlescame in a glossy, hardbound cover, and contained over 800 pages. These were sewn-in, not glued, to ensure that no pages would ever fall out, no matter how much each copy was read. This was a book to treasure – and keep!

Rivals Of The Beatles 2

Martin’s first book was incredibly well received by its readership and has recently sold out. So it’s just as well that his new follow-up book, Rivals Of The Beatles 2 is coming along very soon, to fill the gap! Rivals 2 continues with the same theme as before, of telling the intriguing tales of more of the music acts who were at their peak in the 1960s, or slightly after.

This time around, 10 more groups are covered. These feature several music acts that would have been in Martin’s first book, only he ran out of space: The Who, The Animals, The Doors and Badfinger. To this renowned collection Martin has added a further six names, including Simon & Garfunkel, Love, The Small Faces and….Queen!

Limited Edition

Rivals Of The Beatles 2 will again have a limited first edition of 500 numbered copies. It will contain 528 pages and will again be presented in a glossy hardbound volume – with sewn-in pages. This book will have a recommended retail price of £15.00 + post & packing. This is a highly competitive/attractive price for a book of this length and quality.

Special Introductory Offer!

But Martin will be offering Rivals of The Beatles 2 for a limited period at a Special Introductory Price of just £10.00 + post & packing!

Copies are expected from the printers at end November/early December 2023.

So place your order on Martin’s website rivalsofthebeatles.com as soon as copies are available, to take advantage of this special deal!
