The blog is designed to feature old and new Beatles-related print material including books, magazines, posters & autographs of people that have a Beatles connection or association. The blog also features books from people that have worked with the solo members of the group after the breakup. John “Buzz” Bezzini has one of the world’s largest collections of Beatles books and Beatles-related print material and he will share his thoughts and opinions on some of the more obscure & rare and unusual Beatles titles in addition to the new and forthcoming titles as well!
John taught a course in 1984 called “The Beatles in Retrospect” marking the 20th anniversary of the Beatles’ arrival in America.
John also holds a Master’s Degree in Communication.

Here are 5 Induction booklets that were issued by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland to mark the Beatles’ induction to the Hall of Fame, as well as the 4 individual solo induction programs of John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
I was fortunate to be able to buy all five programs from eBay and I have no regrets about purchasing them for the collection despite the high asking prices.

In an earlier blog entry, I posted the handwritten lyrics to Julian Lennon’s song “Valotte.” This post features the handwritten lyrics to George’s son, Dhani Harrison’s song, “The Light Under the Door,” written on Dark Horse stationery.
This set of lyrics was acquired through a promotion that Dhani did when he was promoting his IN///Parallel album back in 2017. Based on the specified payment levels, you were given the opportunity to choose the song you would like the handwritten lyrics to from the album. I chose this one which Youtube posted showing him performing the song live.

Below the posted lyrics of the song is a photo of Dhani as a young lad dressed in a pirate costume. I bought the photo from the UK company Tracks. They stated they believed the photo was taken by a gardener at Friar Park.
Dhani is a great guy, just like his dad, very friendly and personable.

The Fool
Here are a few print items that have a connection with the Dutch artists and fashion group called the Fool who are best known for painting the Apple Clothing Boutique building on Baker Street in London. Additionally, they designed a lot of the clothing that was presented for sale in the boutique.
Sgt. Pepper LP
They originally were going to paint the inner gatefold of the Sgt. Pepper LP and they submitted a design that was later decided against with a Beatles group photo being substituted when you opened up the gatefold. They did however design the paper sleeve that housed the LP in early pressings of the record.

The Beatles did however end up using this Fool design to actually house the Sgt. Pepper LP!
John Lennon’s Piano
The Fool also was commissioned by John Lennon to paint one of his pianos. This piano eventually was owned by George Harrison as there are existing photos of the piano at Friar Park.

The booklet that you see below is a special booklet put together by the UK company Tracks which I acquired several years ago. As a promotion for the Sgt. Pepper’s book called “Recording Sgt Pepper’s”, Tracks offered copies signed by three members of the Fool.

The only surviving member of the Fool is West Coast artist Marijke Koger. Barry Finch, Simon Postuma, and Josjie Leeger are now all deceased.

She was interviewed for the book and she believes in earnest, that it will be an excellent and informative title.
Looking forward to this book! The researcher is attempting to get the most thorough portrayal of the subject matter and this takes both time and perseverance.

“The Beatles”, known more prominently over the years as “The White Album”, was a perfect follow-up to the ornate and psychedelic creation of the band known as “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” The 30 song double album with the blank white cover and the embossed group name featured the dynamic versatility of the band and demonstrated to the public that the group was not tied or limited to a specific style of music. There was something for everyone on the two disks.
Unfortunately, some critics contend that the album’s greatest strength was also it’s biggest weakness as group members began to be heading in different artistic directions. The producer, George Martin, felt like he was losing his guidance role in the studio and had the preference for the album to be a single LP with only the best tracks on the disk. It was also a more frequent occurrence to not see the full band present at all the sessions.
The band solidarity seemed to be more fragmented and the disagreements between the band members became more visible to engineers and others present in the studio. George Harrison began taking a more active role in contributing excellent songs to the Beatles canon of work. John Lennon’s attentions were also being directed to his fascination with Japanese artist, Yoko Ono.
A brand new 100 page “Bookazine” dealing with many of the subjects mentioned above has been created by author Glenn Greenberg and it is a true delight. Featuring many wonderful accompanying photos from the era, the stories about the creation of the album and the description of the milieu of the times is spot on and you will thoroughly enjoy this wonderful title in your collections. Many are aware that Glyn Johns helped to engineer the Beatles Get Back sessions and later was to become an excellent producer. However little was known of his own recording career where he both wrote and performed several songs on a handful of 45s in the 60s. Glyn not only recorded a Beatles song, “I’ll Follow the Sun”, but he also recorded a Stones song under the tutelage of Bill Wyman with Brian Jones playing sitar on the track of “Lady Jane.”
I was able to find this rare Glyn 45 picture sleeve on eBay.

Was also able to find the rare Glyn Johns picture sleeve for “Lady Jane” where he was incorrectly credited as “Glynt” Johns as the record company used his middle initial of T and mistakenly added it to his first name of Glyn.

And a bit of poetic justice as well. Glyn finally received the deserved recognition for his work on the Get Back Sessions with the Peter Jackson superb film that appeared on Disney. Also, Glyn finally saw the official release of his mix of the Get Back album on the Let It Be special boxed set.
